WHO ARE WE

We are Selam and Andiy. After Natnael passed away we wanted to continue his task of teaching children about their country of origin and helping families to find their stories.
This blog is to teach the children that go abroad something about their birth country and to give to the adoptive parents a way to search the biological family of their child.

Is important what you tell your children about themselves.

GET WITHOUT GIVING

Some Adoptive families want a search the origins of their children. They want to know how the mother or the father looks like or how much brothers and sisters the child has.

That is a very positive way to be respectful with the child origins.

BUT some of the families. Thanks to God a very few, do not want to give anything in exchange, even not a single picture of the child.

First of all in some areas is difficult people know the names but it might be useful to recognize a face. Not only, the worst comes when the family doesn't trust the searcher, I mean the biological family, they might think he is making business on them, he is forbidden the information he has but do not want to give, he is even stealing the money from the biological family.

This situation is sometimes really difficult and it might be even dangerous.

Instead if there is an exchange everyone is happy, have you ever imagine to get news from the child you couldn't take care once? and to know that is alive and doing well even if you do not have rights on the child any more?

CITY FAUNA

Often people think the city as a place for people and cars, full of concrete and stone.

Here in Addis Ababa there is this and more. Lots of places are full of life, even more than one would expect.

In some of the areas of Addis Ababa, in the middle of buidings and places under construction there is still a great amount of animals to see.

The easier ones are the birds, here in the picture there is a lovebird, an endemic bird of Ethiopia that is not rarely seen in some neighborhoods in the city.

A part of the domestic animals, as cats, dogs, donkeys, goats, sheeps and cows there are amazing other ones that come at night: Hyenas!

Is not that estrange to see them going around even in groups. If you ever come to Addis open your eyes to the hidden things you can find in the city!

CONDOMINIUM

Here in Ethiopia to have a house is so much expensive for most of the people.

But the government make promotions of houses and the people can pay little by little. Sometimes it takes a long time to be finally the owner of an apartment, but is always better than not to have hope at all!

The past month there was the lottery for the houses call 20/80, people who apply have to pay the 20 % in the beginning and the rest can be paid in small affordable payments per month. The list was very long and many people finally got a house. They have been mainly waiting from the past 7-8 years!

The new promotions will take hopeful
ly less time!
