WHO ARE WE

We are Selam and Andiy. After Natnael passed away we wanted to continue his task of teaching children about their country of origin and helping families to find their stories.
This blog is to teach the children that go abroad something about their birth country and to give to the adoptive parents a way to search the biological family of their child.

THE HARD SIDE OF THE ADOPTION

The families that give their children to adoption there are two different types to me:  The ones that are really in trouble and are not able to raise the children, and the families that without needing to give their children, they do.

Do you know which type of family come your child from?

Often I ask myself why people that are perfectly able to raise their children, give them away. Sometimes I have seen families that simply give away one of their children just because the neighbor did, or just to think that the child is going to go to another country.

The ones that really are in trouble, mostly they wish to the child a better opportunity than their miserable life.

Something to think about.

GOOGLE MAREG

As any other language, Amharic is a language in evolution, continuously adapting to the new necessities.

Between the young people there are many things that have no proper words in Amharic to be defined and often they use, when the case is a verb, the English word to explain the thing and after the verb “to make/do” that in Amharic is madreg or in a popular way mareg. In this way come different expressions like “google mareg”, “search mareg” and many others.

Is very true that the most of educated people use daily English words in their language as “sorry”, “by the way”, “seriously” and many others that become part of their vocabulary.

Sometimes I ask myself if it was not better to speak a pure Amháric.
